  Donegal’s Fastest Child Finals 2018 A very enjoyable evening was had at the conclusion of this year’s Donegal’s Fastest Child Finals 2018 held last Tuesday night 27th February at Finn Valley Athletics Club. Athletes Remember Adrian Devine

Athletes Remember Adrian Devine Aidan runs in memory of his dad and is rememberd by his fellow athletes A few short weeks ago Adrian Devine a young married man from Clady who was a member of the Castlefinn Running Group tragically passed away suddenly.  At the Glenmore 10 on Sunday 4th February 2018 his young son Aiden bravely joined the race with a mile to go having waited at that point for his aunt Edel who was running in the event.  He came home to a great welcome from the assembled athletes and his family,  a poignant moment in time as Adrian’s intention when

Glenmore 10 Mile 2018

Glenmore 10 Mile 2018 The 2nd annual Glenmore 10 Mile took place last Sunday 4th February 2018 with organisers and participants enjoying what turned out to be a beautiful Sunday morning with perfect conditions for the event.   With 550 starters and what is considered a good and challenging course the race which was hosted extremely well by Finn Valley AC with excellent support from stewards and Gardaí will no doubt begin to attract even larger numbers in the future. Donegal’s Fastest Child 2018

Donegal’s Fastest Child 2018 The search has begun to find Donegal’s Fastest Child 2018.  Last year Emily Kelly from St. Mary’s School Stranorlar went on to win at national level and represented her school and her country at the Millrose Games in New York where she took third place.  Emily was also recently honoured with a Primary School Donegal Sports Star award in recognition of her achievements. This years competition will include u10’s that are born 2009/2010 and u12’s born 2007/2008 for both boys and girls of course. The finals will be held at Finn Valley once again on February

Successful 2017 St Stephen’s Day 5k at Finn Valley AC

Successful St Stephen’s Day 5k at Finn Valley AC The 2017 St Stephen’s Day 5k now in it’s 47th year was as usual a great success at Finn Valley AC, Stranorlar with 652 people taking part overall.  The event kicked off at 12 noon this year with a festive atmosphere among those taking part.  This year’s honorary starter for the event was Manus O Donnell, a retired teacher in the area who was very proactive with the Valley club in the early days and indeed performed the role of the club’s first ever secretary.  Many local sports stars, politicians  and community

Schools Athletics – Annual Schools Cross Country It’s that time of year again back at school for another year and an invitation quickly follows to PRIMARY schools in the general area and to SECONDARY schools in the North West to come along once again and participate in the annual cross country events at Finn Valley Centre , Stranorlar, Co Donegal. The events to be held September 26th (primary) and September 27th (Secondary) have proven a popular early challenge over some 16 years as the response has grown with a record turnout in 2016.
